Basic Dental Office Services

We provide a number of basic dental services in our Towson dental office. Many of these are considered preventative care, and most dental insurance covers them on a set schedule, for instance, teeth cleaning every six months.

Family Dentistry

At Towson Dental, we practice family dentistry, meaning we treat patients of all ages. You can schedule your child’s first dental visit with us, or schedule adult teeth cleaning. You name it, we are happy to see you to provide your dental care.

Regularly scheduled teeth cleaning (known in the dental industry as dental prophylaxis), is a cleaning procedure our dental hygienists perform to thoroughly clean your teeth. Teeth cleaning can halt the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis. Periodontal disease and gingivitis are caused by bacteria from plaque that colonizes either above or below the gum line. If left untreated, gum disease can cause your teeth to shift, become unstable, or totally fall out.

Regular teeth cleaning can prevent gum disease, identify other health issues such as oral cancer, as well as give you fresher breath and a brighter smile.

Dental fillings restore your tooth or teeth after decay has damaged the tooth, causing a cavity or cavities. The dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean the area and then fill it.

Dental bonding, or tooth bonding, is when the dentist applies a too-colored resin material to your tooth or teeth. Dental bonding restores the look of teeth damaged by tooth decay or injury and is also done for cosmetic reasons.

Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating your dentist paints onto the chewing surfaces of your molars. Applying dental sealants is most commonly done with our pediatric patients. used to fill in narrow grooves in a tooth that cannot be adequately cleaned by brushing.

Caught early enough, gum disease can be handled with non-surgical gum disease treatment. If your gums are bleeding or your gums are receding, you may have gum disease and should schedule a dentist appointment right away.

A root canal is a dental procedure performed to save a very infected tooth. We use an advanced endodontic system, Endo-Eze, which allows for a faster treatment time and a more efficient procedure.

Getting regular dental x-rays ensures your dentist, orthodontist or periodontist can see exactly what is going on with your teeth, supporting bone and gums. In this way, they can ensure you get the best treatment.
